What qualifies you to advise me on my job application / CV?

I am fortunate in being very successful with my own career - I have successfully applied to a number of leading UK universities (Oxford, Edinburgh, Manchester) and training programmes (Academic Foundation Programme, 'Run through' surgical training, Post CCT Fellowship at a prestigious London teaching hospital). I have also been appointed as a Consultant at a national teaching hospital. I have a wealth of experience advising colleagues and students on their career aspirations and job applications. I also have a deep understanding of how recruitment in the NHS is conducted. As well as this, having lived abroad for over a decade, I appreciate many of the challenges facing IMGs seeking to work in the NHS. Finally, I regularly work with IMGs in my role as a PLAB examiner and in delivering introductory sessions to doctors new to working in the NHS.

What qualifies you to advise me on my abstract / research paper?

I have extensive research experience - I hold a PhD, have published a book chapter, >15 research papers and have presented at over 50 national and international conferences. I am a peer reviewer for a number of journals. I supervise research students and have experience screening abstracts for conferences.

How do I send you my application form?

All the application portals used in the NHS (eg. NHS Jobs / Trac / Oriel etc) will allow you to export your application in PDF format. This is the best way to send your application to me. Please remove or obscure any personal details such as your home address / contact details or any other private information before you send your form. If you are applying for a locally advertised job (i.e. not a training post), please send a link to the job advertisement.

Can you write my application form / abstract / research paper?

No. Doing so would be unfair to both you and to your employer / assessor. It was also be in breach of the principles of Good Medical Practice. I am more than happy to help you refine and improve your work, I cannot write it for you.

Can I reschedule my session or cancel?

You must provide 5 working days notice to reschedule a session. Any short notice requests for rescheduling will not be entertained. Unfortunately we do not offer the option to cancel.

Do you offer refunds?

We do not offer refunds. Assessing your work and providing feedback takes time. Whilst we will do our utmost to give you the best chance of success, ultimately it is impossible to guarantee this.

Can I record my feedback/coaching session?

Unfortunately we do not allow recording of our feedback sessions. This ensures that both you and I can be frank, open and honest with each other. It prevents sharing of recordings - each person's feedback is unique and tailored to their needs. It also ensures privacy of both parties.

What happens if I am late to my feedback session?

I will wait 10 minutes after the start of the session for you to join - if you do not join within this time, the session will be cancelled as there will be inadequate time to cover your feedback. The session cannot be refunded and must be re-booked if you wish to attend.
