As a doctor, both maintaining and improving the quality of the care you deliver to the your patients is critically important. Demonstrating your understanding of this process and conducting relevant projects can markedly strengthen your application.
How do I conduct a quality improvement or audit project?
Quality improvement and audit are two distinct processes with seek to either improve the quality of care delivered or ensure that existing standards are being met respectively.
Running such a project in your hospital is relatively simple - but you need to ensure you choose an appropriate topic, identify which standards you are going to adopt, collect and analyse your data rigorously and make plans to disseminate your findings.
Ideally, you should seek to 'close the loop' on your project to demonstrate your work has had an effect.
